Citrus County
You will experience a slice of Florida paradise when you come to our villa in Sugarmill Woods, close to Homosassa Springs in Citrus County. Sugarmill Woods is a deed restricted community set in some 70 sq miles of woodland which, after some 30 years' development, still only has a population of around 8,000. Our villa is surrounded on three sides by woodland making it a superb quiet location for the perfect laid back and carefree relaxing holiday.
If you want a more energetic holiday Citrus County can offer numerous activities. The following are only a few examples of the activities available:
- there are several golf courses within a short drive (including club hire facilities),
- fly and conventional fishermen are both catered for as both salt and freshwater fishing are in abundance, though a Florida fishing license will be required,
- kayaking and canoeing enthusiasts can take guided tours on the Homosassa River to areas where there is no human habitation, just wildlife, and
- rental boats are available for you to explore the Chassahowitzka, Halls or Homosassa Rivers.
Close by are Florida State Parks, the largest being the local Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park. Here you can experience wildlife close up. Citrus County is home to one of the largest herds of the endangered Manatees, or you can see the historical side to Citrus County at some of its archaeological parks.
